Shivam represents clients in all areas of antitrust law, including merger control, litigation, investigations, compliance and counselling. He focuses on analyzing competition issues in India and cross-border M&A, and has worked closely with various start-ups, large conglomerates, private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds. He has managed substantive merger reviews approved by the Competition Commission of India, U.S. Federal Trade Commission, European Commission, and the competition regulators in UK, Germany, Singapore, China and Austria. He has also contributed to competition policy developments by working on representations made to the Competition Law Review Committee and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on behalf of various stakeholders. Prior to joining the firm, Shivam practiced antitrust and competition law as a Senior Associate at AZB & Partners.
In his free time, Shivam enjoys playing the synthesizer, travelling and swimming.
Represented Tata Sons and Air India in the merger of Vistara into Air India and subsequent acquisition of stake in Air India by Singapore Airlines – this also involved crafting and negotiating remedies
Represented Tata Steel in its $4.3 billion acquisition of Bhushan Steel, which was the first CCI approval under the insolvency regime
Represented L&T group in the hostile takeover of Mindtree, which marked the first hostile takeover of a software developer in India
Successfully defended few leading automotive parts manufacturers in legal proceedings before the CCI, countering allegations of cartelizing in India
